White Day is a day that is celebrated in Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and Taiwan on March 14, only month after the Valentine’s Day.
In Japan it is a custom that girls will be presenting ( either store-bought or self-made) chocolate to the person as and expression of love, courtesy and social obligation on Valentine`s day. Therefore on White Day its reversed and person who received the honmei-choco (本命チョコ, ‘chocolate of love’) or giri-choco (義理チョコ ‘courtesy chocolate’) are expected to prepare gift back. Common White day gifts are white sweets, jewelry, and even white lingerie. There is a general rule for the White day gift giver, sanbai gaeshi (三倍返し, ‘triple the return’), which means that the gift should be three times the worth of the present received on the Valentines Day.
What can we say, good luck guys.
